Congratulations to Carter and Louis, Gold for Wessex at Junior Inter Regional Regatta for the second year in succession. Also well done to the squad from Shanklin who represented Wessex and Garry, Team Manager for Wessex.
Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club crews travelled to Nottingham last weekend to represent the Wessex region at the Junior Inter Regional Regatta.
The club’s J15 double scull of Carter Horrix and Louis Sheasby secured the top spot on the podium, the regions only medalists, with a superb row leading from the front in the final.
The crew had set the fastest time in the heats and took the race to their closest challengers in the final to win by three lengths.
This was the crew’s second successive gold at these championships after winning at J14 status last year.
Beth Katirewa was part of a composite crew with Coalporters Rowing Club from Southampton that secured the win in the B final of the girls J16 coxless quad event whilst the clubs J14 girls quad rowed well and would have gained valuable experience of this type of racing, competing at a multi lane event for the first time.
