Fantastic Finale to Hants & Dorset Regattas

Shanklin Sandown RC travelled to Southampton for the conclusion of the Hants & Dorset season, with Itchen RC hosting. The club registered four wins, with the Ladies Junior pair of Kayleigh Batchelor and Yas Wright taking the victory to ensure that they maintained their undefeated record for the season.

Daisy Faithfull finished the season on a high, completing a hat trick of victories. The first came in the Ladies Open double sculls with Frances Katirewa, followed by a win in the Ladies Senior pairs, with Kayleigh Batchelor at stroke on this occasion. Furthermore, after securing the Ladies Senior sculls championship at BTC last week, she completed the season with another victory in this event with Batchelor claiming the runners up spot.

The Men’s & Ladies Junior crews continue to improve and performed admirably but were both knocked out at the semifinal stage against the eventual winners of both events, with Emily Faithfull also losing out at the semifinal stage of the Ladies Junior sculls by the narrowest of margins.

Capping off another successful season, the club secured three championships outright and shared the Ladies Novice sculls championship with Lymington RC with three wins apiece. The club will now begin to prepare their crews for the culmination of the coastal rowing season, The South Coast championships at Paignton in September.
